Something big is coming to Altura. Council has confirmed the Weebar Sporting Reserve, a $23.5 million sporting precinct that will sit inside our estate.
This is a huge step for Drouin. It makes Altura the only community in the region built right next to a regional-level sporting hub. For buyers looking at new homes or land for sale in Drouin, this is an investment that transforms everyday life, immediately, and well into the future.
What’s Planned?
The new reserve will stretch across 27-acres of land, bringing with it a full-scale regional precinct. Two senior ovals will anchor the site, including one with synthetic grass for all-season use. There will be six netball courts under lights, four enclosed cricket nets, and a multi-use space that can host netball, basketball, tennis, and everything in between.

At the centre of it all, a 1400m2 pavilion will provide changing rooms, public toilets, and potentially even room for AFL offices. Families will love the outdoor gym, playgrounds and open spaces, while paths, shelters and shaded seating mean it’s a place to gather on weekends or after work.
Parking for more than 300 cars, plus planned entry and exit points, make it easy to access, too.
Why Baw Baw Needs It
The Warragul and Drouin corridor is growing quickly, with thousands of families choosing the region for its schools, lifestyle and affordable house and land packages. That growth puts pressure on existing sporting facilities. In fact, local clubs are already stretching capacity.
By 2031, Baw Baw Shire will need several more AFL ovals, more basketball courts and at least nine new outdoor netball courts to keep up with demand. The Weebar Sporting Reserve helps answer that call, with multi-purpose facilities and synthetic surfaces that can cope with the high level of use. It’s a project that secures the future of sport in Drouin.
What It Means for Residents of Altura
Imagine being able to walk your kids to Saturday netball without even starting the car. Picture evening training sessions on a lit oval, or an after-dinner stroll through the wetlands that link to the precinct. The convenience is real, and it’s unique to Altura.
Homes built next to infrastructure of this scale tend to hold their value strongly. Investors see long-term security, while families see everyday ease. Add in safe pedestrian links to the planned government primary school, and you have a community designed for the next generation.
More Than Sport
The Weebar Sporting Reserve will bring life to Altura seven days a week. The playgrounds and outdoor gyms will be just as popular as the ovals. Locals will walk, cycle and gather in the open spaces. Parents can catch up while the kids run around. Even on days with no games, the precinct is a hive of opportunity. This is where sport and community will meet, right on the doorstep of Drouin’s most exciting new neighbourhood.

The Only Estate of Its Kind
No other estate in West Gippsland offers what Altura does. Plenty have parks, some have playgrounds, but none are tied to a regional sporting precinct. For buyers searching for new homes in Drouin or considering land for sale, Altura stands apart.
The announcement of the Weebar Sporting Reserve is a milestone. For council, it means meeting the needs of a growing population, and for Altura, it cements its place as the estate that offers more.
Most importantly, for buyers, it’s the chance to secure a home in a community shaped by wetlands, schools and a $23.5 million sporting hub that will serve generations to come.
